I know you are already wondering what seasons have to do with being successful in life. Spring, summer, fall, and winter exhibit vivid pictures of the phases of our lives. Each season, whether it is the soft colors of the blossoms in springtime, the warmth and brilliance of the sunshine of summer, the variegated colors of the autumn leaves, or the sparkle on the blanket of snow in winter reflects change.
The only thing in life that never changes is the fact that life is always changing. If you don’t believe it, look in the mirror. Change doesn’t come easy for most of us. Accepting and adjusting to each phase in life increases our ability to continue to grow and remain productive. There is beauty in each season of life. Look for it!
Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Just as an artist uses both dark and light colors and with the stroke of a brush blends them into a painting creating a work of art, so are the “Days of our Lives.” We each live out our own “soap opera” because life is made up of bright happy times and dark sad times. Each phase of our life is a part of “the rest of the story.”
- Never stop growing. Each season gives us the opportunity of experiencing and learning something that can produce new growth and development. If you are in a rainy stormy season where the sun is refusing to shine, look past the clouds and you will see Jesus walking in the midst of your storm.
- Life is like a puzzle. Don’t judge what is going on until God gets through with it and you can see the big picture. God can turn even the worst of times into the best of times. During seasons when your world seems capricious, uncertain, and unstable, “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” Exodus 14:13 Over and over in the Bible it says, “And it came to pass…” Remember, this too shall pass.
“My times are in Thy hand.” Psalm 31:15
