Preparation is the Motto of Life

Preparation is the Motto of Life

Have you ever wondered why God would give you a fantastic dream that hasn’t come to pass?   One reason could be a lack of preparation.  The word “prepare” means to provide, make ready, build, ordain, or establish.  A motto is defined as a word, sentence, or phrase adopted as a principle or behavior.  For example, Henry Hartman said, “Success always comes when preparation meets opportunity.”

Preparation precedes promotion.  It is a must for success.  The story is told of two farmers.  Both prayed for rain.  Only one prepared his field for the harvest.  Both prayers were answered.  Only one received the benefit.  Mike Murdock said, “Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.”  Are you preparing for success or failure?

Luke 14:28

“Who, intending to build a house wouldn’t sit down first and count the cost making sure there is sufficient funds, lest after laying the foundation would not be able to finish it?”

Practical Application and Assignments:

The Boy Scout motto is, “Be prepared.”  If you will prepare for great things when you are small, you will become big enough to have and enjoy great things.  Almost everything you dream in life requires preparation before it can become a reality.

  • Think about it: How do your goals and dreams fit into God’s will for your life?  How do you plan to attain your Divine purpose and destiny?  What are the mottos that influence your life?
  • Prepare for success.   I remember choosing to go out with my friends instead of studying for an important speech competition in high school.  The next day my performance revealed my lack of preparation.  It was a valuable lesson.  The motto, “Don’t sacrifice your future on the altar of the immediate” took on new meaning.
  • Study Scriptures on this subject.  For example, 1 Corinthians 14:8 says, “If the war bugle gives an uncertain, indistinct call, who will prepare for battle?”  “I will prepare God a habitation.” Exodus 15:2

“Prepare your hearts unto the Lord.” I Samuel 7:3
