Journaling is the Story of Life

Journaling is the Story of Life

If you want to leave a legacy that out-lasts and out-lives your natural life span, one of the best ways is journaling.  Who better than you to tell the story of your life!  Journaling chronicles your life events, emotions, and expectations in a way nothing else can.  When you journal, you join the ranks of a fraternal order of such infamous personalities as Ann Frank, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ronald Reagan, Oprah, and countless others.

Journaling helps us define our dreams and goals, and enables us to track our progress.  In this computer, high tech generation, the contemporary version of journaling is called, “blogging.”  Whether you call it blogging, keeping a diary, or journaling, your testimony will speak for itself.  Ben Franklin said, “If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead, either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.”

Psalm 119:111

“Your testimonies have I taken as a heritage forever.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Journaling is beneficial for many reasons. It helps us identify and process our feelings.  It is a great way to manage stress.  It aids us in developing problem solving skills.  It improves our interpersonal relationships.  It moves us from studying to meditation.

  • Find a peaceful environment and relax. Think about what you want to write. Scrap booking is another great way to journal. Just begin writing, making memories and telling your story.
  • Study the writings of Moses, David, Paul, and other biblical writers who journalized the history of God’s love and Divine intervention for His people. Read the autobiographies of people you admire and learn from their life experiences.
  • Spend time in meditation and record the thoughts, feelings, dreams, visions, and pictures God places in your heart.

“Thus says the Lord, write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.” Jeremiah 30:2
