Celebrations are the Memories of Life

Celebrations are the Memories of Life

A celebration is a “party” for the purpose of giving honor to something or someone.  The important dates, accomplishments, and special events in life are worthy of recognition and celebration.  A celebration captures a moment and makes it a memory that lasts for a lifetime.  Beautiful memories put pictures in the mind that even physical blindness, pain, and the hardships of life cannot erase.  Take time to make memories.  Stop being a Grinch at Christmas.  Stop being a heartbreaker on Valentine’s Day.  Enjoy the memories and celebrate life!

The Bible records the story of a father preparing a celebration for his rebellious, prodigal son who had returned home.  He planned a party in his son’s honor with music and dancing, and presented him with a ring and a new wardrobe for the festive occasion.

Luke15:24

“My son who was lost is found, and they began to make merry.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Celebrate life and it will celebrate you.  Find something to celebrate everyday.  Special moments have to be planned and arranged on purpose.

  •  Make a memory.  Name each day and every day will become a holiday.  Plan special events that turn ordinary days into memorable celebrations and exciting adventures.
  •  Create an atmosphere that gives attention to specific occasions.  It may be a cake, balloons and streamers…a sign, award, certificate, or a candle in the meatloaf…Find a way to communicate to those you love that “this is your day and you are special.”
  • Provide opportunities to reminisce.  Life is full of memories, but you need a place to keep them.  Invest in a camera.  Capture the smiles, important celebrations, and insignificant everyday pleasures and activities of your friends and family on film.  Keep your memories alive by story telling, scrapbooks, picture albums, videos, DVD’s, souvenirs, keepsakes, family heirlooms, and journaling.

“He that is of a merry heart has a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15
