Accountability is a system of checks and balances. Someone said, “You can only expect what you inspect.” That is management! You can only improve yourself when you remove the fear of outside input. Accountability is the ability to submit yourself to someone else’s instruction and scrutiny.
Accountability is necessary in every area of your life. Even your emotions must be managed or you will only do whatever you feel like doing. That is accountability! Your children’s growth and development must be managed in order for them to mature into productive law-abiding citizens. That is accountability! Workers must be managed in order to increase productivity both individually and corporately. That is accountability!

Did you know that accountability is a God idea? Everyone on the planet must be accountable to someone and ultimately, to God. Children must be accountable to parents. Employees must be accountable to employers. Students must be accountable to teachers. Athletes must be accountable to their coaches…
- Do not rebel against Godly authority. Accountability is what makes us steward our gifts and abilities. Without homework assignments and exams how many students would apply themselves? Without deadlines and time clocks how many employees would discipline themselves?
- Make yourself accountable to someone you trust. Lord Action said, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” It is dangerous. Lack of accountability can give power hungry individuals the opportunity to become a law unto themselves, resulting in the abuse of authority.
