The word worship is an old English word that means to ascribe worth or value to something or someone. When we worship God we recognize His value. The Bible says, “For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34. “For where your treasure is; there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21. Do you see the connection? The Greek word for treasure is “thesaurus.” A thesaurus is a book of words and synonyms. God values and treasures the words you use to worship Him.
Build an altar in your home and in your heart. God is worthy to receive glory and honor. Worship Him! It may be easier said than done, but my father says, “You can worship your way through anything.” Worship makes a way through the crisis to the destination of life.
Psalm 95:6
“Come, let us worship and bow down: Let us kneel before the Lord.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
History records that four of David’s sons died tragically. When the servants brought the message that his baby had died, they found David in prayer and fasting. He said, “I cannot bring him back, but I can go to him.” He stood up, changed his garments, and went to the house of God to worship. II Samuel 12:13-23
- Read the following Scriptures regarding ways to worship: Psalm 150, 98:4, 47:1, 149:3, 134:2, and 95:6. Worship is expressed through musical instruments, singing, clapping, dancing, lifting of the hands, kneeling in honor, adoration, reverence, and service to God.
- “Exalt ye the Lord our God and worship at His footstool: for He is holy.” Psalm 99:5. When you lift Him up, He lifts you up. He will lift you above the storms of life. Worship is like a survival kit in the desert. God will meet you at “the end of your road” and make a way where there is no way. Wise men still worship Him!
“God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24
