Uncontrolled Anger is the Hostility of Life

Uncontrolled Anger is the Hostility of Life

Anger is an intense emotion that will release itself in abusive hostility and rage if it is not managed and processed.  It is like an infectious disease that will erode the very core of your foundation.  When anger is not decompressed and released properly, it will continue to fester and escalate into resentment and hatred.  When it is not ventilated it can become like a pressurized volcano that will eventually erupt.

Losing your temper usually only compounds animosity.  On the other hand, when anger is channeled discreetly, it can have a beneficial result of stimulating necessary positive changes.  “A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NKJV)

“Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Obviously, anger is not a sin!  “…God is angry with the wicked every day.” Psalm 7:11  Jesus became righteously indignant with those who used the temple for purposes of thievery and fraud.  He literally threw the moneychangers out.  There is a difference between anger and seething hostility.  Perpetual, obsessive hostility will have an adverse effect on your health.  It can cause high blood pressure and other physical problems.

  • “Be angry and sin not…” Ephesians 4:26   Identify your anger and discuss it in a proper forum.   Refuse to speak until you can express your feelings in a calm, respectful manner.  You can have your say, if you say it in the right way.
  • “…Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath.” Ephesians 4:26  In other words, don’t take your anger to bed with you.  Stay in touch with your feelings.  Deal with your anger constructively on a daily basis.  Releasing it with forgiveness can add years to your life.  “An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.”  Proverbs 29:22 (NIV)

“…The Lord is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy.” Psalm 103:8
