If there is a battleground, there is a conflict. If there is a conflict, there are at least two diametrically opposite forces at work. God is not in a battle with satan because satan is not even in His league. The battle is between good and evil. It goes all the way back to when God created the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve lost the war because they didn’t recognize their enemy. The enemy in life is satan. He is the mastermind behind all evil. His one goal is to destroy you and ultimately, cut you off from God.
The battle begins in your mind. It is in the mind that the battle is either won or lost. The mind has the capacity for good or evil. What dominates your thinking? Are you in control of your thoughts?
Romans 8:6
“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Evil thoughts are satanically launched into the mind like flaming missiles. If those thoughts are allowed to remain, they result in sinful behavior that attempts to meet legitimate needs in illegitimate ways.
- Re-set your mind. When thoughts become negative or defiled, deliberately re-set your thought patterns the same way you re-set your clock when it is inaccurate. Your mind is like a womb. For example, fearful thoughts reproduce more fearful thoughts. When you interrupt them by speaking positive declarations from God’s Word, you push the re-set button.
- Win the war by taking satan’s thoughts captive. You can’t kill “mind monsters,” but you can send them to their cage. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds: casting down vain imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.” II Corinthians 10:4
“…Capture every thought.. .make it give up and obey Christ. II Corinthians 10:5 (NCV)
