Have you ever thought about how boring it would be if God had made all of us exactly alike? Can you imagine everyone created with cookie cutter conformity? God designed every person uniquely different. Our differences produce a variety of styles, which add spice to life.
A spice is an ingredient that adds interest or flavor. Take the local church for example. Have you ever wondered why there are so many different churches? People have specific backgrounds, interests, and needs, which create different preferences in styles of music, worship, preaching techniques, and leadership. God didn’t even design two snowflakes alike. Our individuality is a gift from God. I believe He planned it this way.

Practical Application and Assignments:
Variety is referred to as the “spice of life.” For example, you can’t compare apples with pears because they have distinctively different characteristics in fragrance, texture, and taste. It’s okay to be different.
- Take a walk through a mall. Observe people. Notice the differences in hairstyles, fashions, and personalities. Appreciate the variety of styles.
- Learn to understand, accept, and enjoy each other’s differences. It would be ludicrous for a butterfly to look at a caterpillar with a condescending attitude. Everyone is an original, fashioned for a specific purpose. Each stage of development is an expression of our own personal identity.
- Discover your uniqueness. Enjoy being different. Stand out in the crowd. Make your own fashion statement. Design your own label. Be a “style-setter.” Don’t allow Hollywood to determine your wardrobe or your life style.
