Sin is an act of violation of God’s Word. It is an enslaver that will dominate, incarcerate, and imprison you. It is a counterfeit that can never satisfy because it is not what it appears or what the commercials promise. The deception is an attempt to seduce you to fill a deficiency in your life with something only God can fill.
The consequences of sin are always the same. For example, after the party is over, the alcohol or drugs have worn off, or the promiscuous, illicit relationship has ended, you are still hurting, afraid, sad, and alone, miserably trapped, and deceived.
Galatians 6:7
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Whether you are young or old you have the right to vote against sin. The ballot in life has two choices: life or death. “Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 Repentance is as simple as ABC.
- Acknowledge that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
- “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”
Acts 16:31 - Confess your sin and ask for forgiveness. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9
- Pray this prayer: “Father God, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I confess that I am a sinner. I am so sorry for my sin. I ask for forgiveness. I refuse to be deceived by sin any longer. Lord Jesus, I thank you for taking the punishment for my sin on the cross. I receive you as my personal Lord and Savior.”
