Seriousness is the Solemnity of Life

Seriousness is the Solemnity of Life

We live in a world that is entertainment crazy.  Subconsciously, we act as if turning off the TV news channel will make the violence in our streets go away.  It is tempting to bury our head in the sand like the ostrich and say, “I can’t see you.”  It is time to get serious and face the facts.  Life can’t be only about fun and games.  There really is a jungle out there!

Haile Selassie, said, “Throughout history it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, and  the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”  Facing the problems in life requires us to be a part of the solution.  It is time for us to lay our hand on the Bible and solemnly swear to do our part in making our world a better place.

II Chronicles 7:14  My grandfather’s final words were:

“If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

During World War II, Winston Churchill said, “In every age there comes a time when a leader must come forward to meet the need of the hour.  Therefore, there is no potential leader who does not have an opportunity to make a positive potential difference in society.  Tragically, there are times when a leader does not rise to the hour.”

  • God is not waiting on the world to change. He is waiting on you to change your world.  Someone on your job, at your school, in your family, in your neighborhood, in your country, in some other nation is waiting on you to seriously ask, “What can I do to make a difference?”…   Not, what can someone else do?  What can you do?
  • Become a world changer. Someone said, “The world can be changed with one random act of kindness at a time.”

Jesus said, “I must work the work of Him who sent Me while it is day, for the night is coming when no man can work.” John 9:4 (NKJV)
