The Word of God makes it very clear that we were created in His image. Our roots go all the way back to the mind of God before the foundation of the world. When God looks into a mirror, He sees us because we were made in His likeness. When we look into the mirror, God wants us to see what He sees, His masterpiece.
The reflection we see in a mirror is an image. Self-image is like a mirror because it reflects the opinion we have of ourselves. A poor self-image is like looking into a distorted mirror. Whether the conception is positive or negative depends on how we feel and what we think. Your self-image will decide your self-confidence. Look in the mirror and say, “I am a masterpiece designed by the Creator of the universe.”
Philippians 4:13 (MSG)
“Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
The Scripture states in Revelation, chapter 21 that there is no need for the sun or the moon in Heaven because it is illuminated by the Glory of God. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14 Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun; you are a reflection of the light of God’s Son.
- List five words that describe you. If it were possible, what three things would you change about yourself? What do you think God was thinking when He made you? Compare what you see in the mirror with what God says about you. You will only succeed in what you believe you can accomplish.
- Go light your world. Edith Wharton said, “There are two ways of spreading light: be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” You are an awesome spirit being. Hold your head high, shoulders back, and reflect your Creator.
“But we all, with open face beholding as a glass the Glory (mirror) of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” II Corinthians 3:18
