Prejudice is the Pitfall of Life

Prejudice is the Pitfall of Life

Prejudice is described as an intolerant opinion formed before knowing the facts.  It is biased, pre-judgment designed to be injurious to another person or people group.  Prejudice refuses to add value to you or allow you to add value to me.  Sometimes it isn’t recognized because its deadly venom can be absorbed subconsciously through the traditional and ancestral attitudes of society.

A pitfall is a hidden trap that ensnares its victim without warning.  Prejudice is an invisible, suffocating poison that breeds hatred with its unfair stereotypes.  A family died in their home because they didn’t have a carbon monoxide detector.  Do you have a detector for the poison of prejudice at your house?  It is just as deadly!  Don’t tolerate prejudice.

Acts 10:34

“In truth, I perceive that God shows no partiality to anyone.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

In Acts, chapter 10, God taught Peter a valuable lesson when he was hesitant to follow the instructions to share the Gospel with Cornelius because he was a Gentile.  When the walls of prejudice were removed, he became obedient.

  • Look up the following Scriptures:
    • Don’t judge the heart of another person. Matthew 7:1
    • Don’t judge by outward appearance. I Samuel 16:7
    • Don’t excuse discrimination. Romans 2:11 (AMP)
    • Don’t react when people discriminate against you.  Matthew 5:11, 12
    • Don’t laugh at the difference in others. Proverbs 11:12
    • Don’t use derogatory names or terminology. Titus 3:1-2
  • Don’t assume you can’t change your attitude if you discover that you are guilty of prejudice.

“Are you unmindful or actually ignorant (of the fact) that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent, (to change your mind) and inner man to accept God’s will…For He will render to every man according to his works (justly) as his deeds deserve. Romans 2:4,6 (AMP)
