Someone said, “Prayer is the muscle that moves the arm of Divine omnipotence.” There is no force on earth more powerful than prayer. It is two-way communication and communion. It is talking with God and then waiting for Him to respond. Prayer is limitless. When you talk to God, you make a Divine connection that releases a Divine intervention.
Prayer is as important to your spiritual welfare as breathing is to your physical well-being. Occasionally, my car runs out of fuel because I forget to fill it up. When we forget to spend time in God’s presence allowing Him to speak into our lives, we shut down and become spiritually drained.
Ephesians 6:18
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
The Bible records that prayer has shut the mouth of lions, caused the sun to stand still and a river to run backwards, brought water from a rock and bread from heaven, healed the sick, raised the dead and changed the destiny of nations! Prayer works!
- Study the Lords Prayer. Matthew 6:9-13 It begins with praise and ends with worship. Notice the format and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand the prayer as a pattern, not a formula.
- Schedule appointments alone with God. Following His agonizing prayer in theGardenofGethsemane, Jesus asked His disciples, “Could you not watch with me one hour?” He is still asking, “Are you so busy that you don’t have one hour to spend on your knees?” An hour of prayer a day can keep the doctor, the devil, and distractions away.
- Counter attack the impossible through prayer. Prayer doesn’t empower faith. Faith empowers prayer. Jesus said, “With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
“…Lord, teach us to pray.” Luke 11:1
