If you never removed your sunglasses, “your world” would become the color of your lenses. The manner in which you perceive a situation, matters. You can’t always change your circumstances, but you can change how they affect you. You can look at your helplessness in an overwhelming dilemma and despair, or you can focus on God and discover His coping power.
When you change your thinking, you change your attitude. When you change your attitude, you change your actions. When you change your actions, you change your response. When you change your response, you change your outcome.
Proverbs 23:7
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Have you ever heard two people describe the same incident completely different? Which person was telling the truth? Both of them! Each conclusion of the situation is a matter of perception and outlook.
- Learn to look for the good in life. Instead of looking at what you have lost, look for what you have left. Instead of focusing on the bad times, focus on the good times. Instead of dwelling on your failures, be thankful that you can start over.
- Read Numbers, chapter 13. Moses sent twelve men to spy out the land. The majority compared the giants to themselves and came back with a negative report. The minority compared the giants to God and came back saying, “We can take the land.” The majority was defeated. The minority put their faith in God and won the battle.
- You have two choices: You can sink into despair and do nothing, or you can take the necessary steps to find a solution. God helps those who help themselves, and God helps those who help others. Start doing the possible and God will do the impossible.
“God can do anything, you know- far more than you could ever imagine, guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
