Everyone is advertising something. Your facial expressions, your demeanor, and the clothes you wear are all communicating an unspoken message. What you advertise is a magnetic force of influence. It impacts the type of people who are drawn to you in relationships. It may even be the determining factor of whether you are hired or fired on your job.
What would you say your style and conduct is advertising … confidence, lust, faith…? If you could sum up your life goals, what would you use for an advertising slogan? The goal of every marketing campaign is “top of the mind” awareness. When people think of you, are their thoughts positive or negative?

“…Be an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
At one time the marketing tactics of one corporation was to place its products within nine feet of every person on the planet. Currently, the goal is to place it in 25% of their thoughts. This is “top of the mind awareness.” Whatever you think about the most will appear in your conversation. What you talk about will be reproduced in your actions.
A marketing strategy, good or bad, automatically emerges.
- Become aware of what you are advertising. For example, My wife applied for a teaching position knowing it had already been filled. She said in her interview, “If you don’t hire me, you may be making the worst mistake of your life.” Guess what! The superintendent created a new position. The manner in which we market our gifts and talents is important.
- Don’t be guilty of false advertising. Your identity is found in God’s eternal purposes. Your purpose should define your advertisement. Your opinion of yourself will be revealed in what you advertise.
