“I want what I want and I want it now” is probably the motto of lust. The word “lust” is typically associated with something sensual. Hollywood has become so influential in setting the standards and values that many Americans are no longer shocked by the reckless immorality that is paraded on the screen in their own living rooms. The guidelines of the Word of God are being discarded and replaced with acceptance of sexual promiscuity.
You have a God-given ability to control your passions. The Bible gives a warning regarding a promiscuous woman. “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.” Proverbs 6:25 Choose God’s way! Choose love rather than lust.
I Thessalonians 4:3-5 (NIV)
“It is God’s will that you should be holy and avoid sexual immorality. Each of you should learn to control your body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
The cry of this society is, “But everybody’s doing it!” The Scripture declares, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; but the end there of are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
- Don’t be deceived. Guard your mind. The Delilah’s of this present generation are not only living next door or appearing at the local strip joint. This is an age when nudity, pornography, and sensual images are being instantly accessed via cable and satellite on the computer, video, DVD, and TV screens of family rooms across America. This tool of satan is a destructive force that corrupts the mind of those caught in its snare.
- Remember Matthew 5:28 (AMP). “But I say to you that everyone who so much as looks at a woman with evil desire for her has committed adultery with her in his heart.”
- Read Proverbs, chapters 5-7. It is a warning against immorality, adultery, and fornication.
“Flee youthful lusts: but follow righteousness…” I Corinthians 6:18
