Periodically businesses are closed for inventory. Teams of workers itemize the company’s stock to evaluate its level of productivity and efficiency. Personal inventory is advantageous in keeping us on track. Sometimes we unconsciously become distracted and lose objectivity.
Conduct an inventory of your life. Am I still headed in the direction of my Divine purpose and destiny? Have I allowed resentment, hatred, bitterness or other negative influences to distort my vision and creep into my attitude? Did I miss a turn or lose my way? Remember, the Holy Spirit is your compass and the Bible is your road map. God can turn a detour into a shortcut. Inventory and evaluation illuminates your path, but you must choose to follow the light.
Psalm 119:105
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Darkness is merely the absence of light. It has no substance. Darkness disappears in the presence of light. Inventory sheds light as if opening the shades. Evaluation examines and clarifies where you are.
- “Let us examine our ways.” Lamentations 3:40 (NIV) Inventory is only beneficial when it brings positive change in the areas that need improvement. Obviously, if we keep doing what we have been doing, we will keep getting the same results.
- Focus on the corrections and necessary changes. Forge on through each obstacle and remove the word “impossible” from your vocabulary.
- Study “God’s map.” If you own a Bible, you possess God’s GPS navigation system. God will always give you directions when you ask for His help. He will bring illumination and guide you into successful living.
“Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I am about; See for Yourself whether I‘ve done anything wrong – then guide me on the road to eternal life.” Psalm 139:23,24 (MSG)
