Instinct is defined as an innate, inborn, automatic, spontaneous impulse that is not prompted through reasoning or experience. It is a natural response to stimuli. Intuition is the immediate insight of knowing something without conscious reason. It is instantaneous apprehension.
Both instinct and intuition operate on a feeling level that doesn’t originate in the mind. Godly instinct is the inner voice of God that flows out of your inner being-Spirit to spirit. It is that inner knowing that knows that it knows, because it knows. It is the “gut” feeling that cautions you when something is not right or gives peace to proceed when all is well. Don’t bi-pass the signals.
Jeremiah 7:23 (AMP)
“Listen to and obey My voice, and I will be your God and you will be My people; and walk in the whole way that I command you that it may be well with you.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
A bird doesn’t take a Survival 1O1 class. It just instinctively knows to fly south before winter. Instinct is what caused the animals to go two by two into the ark before the great flood.
- Learn to recognize the voice of God. Godly instinct and intuition can save your life. On one occasion, for no visibly, apparent reason I was compelled to abruptly change lanes. What I didn’t know was that beyond my view there was an obstruction in the lane ahead. If I had proceeded, I would have been involved in a terrible auto accident.
- Learn to listen when God speaks. One day I had a mental picture of a car heading toward my youngest son. I wanted to run to the bus- stop to protect him. Instead, I went to my study and prayed. That evening my son, Michael, said, “A car almost hit Blake in a parking lot after school.” When God speaks, I listen. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe the moment I prayed, angels were released to protect my son.
- Follow your Godly instinct. It is a gift from God. Don’t ignore it.
“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” I Samuel 3:10 (AMP)
