Perhaps you have heard the expression, “Attitude is everything.” Your attitude can make or break you. In the Old Testament, it was murmuring and complaining that got the Hebrew children into the most trouble while they were wandering in the desert. No one enjoys being around someone who is acting like a spoiled brat.
For some people, no matter how much you do for them it is never enough. For others, even the smallest act of kindness is greatly appreciated. Most of us will go out of our way to invest our time, energy, and resources into a person who is grateful and appreciative.
I Thessalonians 5:18
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
Have you ever noticed that many people in this generation seem to have an attitude that the world owes them something, but they don’t owe it anything in return? Did you know that an attitude of ingratitude is just one step away from unholiness?
- Consider II Timothy 3:1-5. These are heavy statements. Read them carefully. “This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affections, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power there of; from such turn away.”
- Do yourself a favor. Check your attitude regularly. Don’t allow ingratitude to sneak up on you.
- Pray for God to send a renewal of the spirit of thanksgiving to this nation. “Lord, let it start in me!”
“Our God, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name.” I Chronicles 29:13
