Grace is God’s amazing, unlimited, unmerited favor. His grace pardons our transgressions. John Newton composed one of the most popular hymns ever written. He wrote, “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found. I was blind, but now I see.”
The second verse says, “Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come. ‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home.” The last verse is my favorite, “When we’ve been there ten thousand years bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.” Have you thanked God for grace today?
II Corinthians 12:9 (MSG)
Jesus said, “My grace is enough; it’s all you need.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
There has never been a person born on this planet, with the exception of Christ, who has not needed grace. Someone said, “Grace is getting what you don’t deserve. Mercy is not getting what you do deserve.” It is amazing. It arrives on time and there is always more than enough.
- Come just as you are! You will not be put on a waiting list. God’s grace is always extended. It becomes yours, the moment you ask.
- Place “grace” at the top of your “thankful” list. When you step into eternity you will no longer need the air, the water, the food, or anything else that is essential to life in this time-space realm, but in that moment you will still need grace.
- Don’t waste God’s grace. It is a gift already given. When it is not received or extended, it is wasted.
- Make this declaration of faith: “By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
“…Where sin does abound, grace does much more abound.” Romans 5:20
