Friendship is the Network of Life

Friendship is the Network of Life

Have you ever heard the phrase, “It is not what you know, but who you know that counts?” The wealth of the richest people in the world cannot be calculated by the huge amounts of money in their bank accounts, or the accumulation of their expensive possessions, or the mansions in which they live.  All the wealth of the world is meaningless without someone with whom to share it.  Relationships are the most valued treasures and give the greatest satisfaction and fulfillment.

Your network of friendships is too precious to risk losing by taking it for granted.   The only way to have friends is to be a friend.  “A man, who is a friend, must show himself friendly.” Proverbs 18:24  Although true friendship doesn’t have a price tag, it will cost you something.

John 15:13

Jesus said, “No greater love has a man than this, than to lay down his life for his friends.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Your friends are a network or group of entities interwoven and working together for a common goal. We can’t see ourselves as we truly are.  We need the objectivity of people who really know us.

  • Don’t be afraid of healthy confrontation. Only a true friend will tell you what he really thinks. The Scripture says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friends.” Proverbs 27:17 Your best friend is the one who helps bring out the best in you, by confronting the worst in you.
  • Be careful whom you choose for a friend. Someone said, “You show me your friends and I will show you your future.” A mirror reflects a man’s face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses.
  • Make Jesus Christ your best friend. He is as close as the mention of His name. Before you speak He knows your thoughts. He promised, “Behold, I am with you all the days…and on every occasion, to the (very) close and consummation of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (AMP)

“…There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
