A disciple is one who follows and adheres to the teachings of Christ. Salvation is free, but discipleship costs you something. It requires more than a decision. It commands a lifestyle of total commitment. Jesus said, “If any man serve Me, let him follow Me…” John 12:26
Jesus chose twelve ordinary men and called them His disciples. On their shoulders rested the responsibility to teach, train, and establish the church. Discipleship is equally important in the twenty-first century. This generation could complete the task of worldwide evangelism. In Matthew 28:19 (AMP), every believer is called to, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” A call is a summons that demands a response.
Isaiah 6:8
…“Here am I Lord! Send me.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
When you became a Christian you chose to be on God’s side. You were saved to serve. There is a war going on between right and wrong, and good and evil. You have been called to the front line of active duty. This is not a time to take a leave of absence or become missing in action. You were born with a mission.
- Plan a strategy to effectively target your circle of influence with the message of salvation, healing, and deliverance. Ask God for creative ways to witness and share your testimony.
- Develop relationships. John Maxwell said, “People never care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
- Reach the world for Christ. Follow His example. Win twelve people to Christ. Train each of them to win and disciple twelve more. Do the math… We could literally win the rest of the unsaved world in just nine multiples of twelve winning twelve. You can become a part of the multiplication process covering the globe with the Gospel. Think globally. Act locally. Make disciples!
Jesus said, “…And you shall be My witness in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the world…” Acts 1:8
