Death is the Mystery of Life

Death is the Mystery of Life

John Newton’s final words were, “I am still in the land of the dying; I shall be in the land of the living soon.”  Death is the vehicle that will carry us into what appears to be the “unknown” only because it is a place we have never been.   It is the part of the journey through life, which takes us “out of sight” temporarily and escorts us to our final destination in eternity.

Death is that mysterious transition from one world to another.  For the believer, death is the end of the past and the beginning of your eternal future.  Death is your last “down day” and the first eternal day with the Most High.  For the Christian, it is an entrance into theCelestialCity, called “Heaven.”   There is no reason for a believer to fear death.

Philippians 1:21

The Apostle Paul said, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Sometimes we dismiss the idea of our own immortality as if in doing so, it doesn’t exist.  The truth is that sooner or later every person will face death.  Death is a part of life.  The Scripture states, “It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27   If you don’t meet God in life… “ready or not,” you will meet Him in death.  It is ludicrous to think life ends at death.   Even nature itself is proof of a resurrection.

  • Bury a seed and observe the new plant as it bursts forth.  Death is only a door into the continuation of a new life.
  • Read I Corinthians, chapter 15.  Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  As you place your trust in Him, the mystery of death will begin to unravel and the revelation of eternal life will remove all fear.
  • Don’t be afraid.  Heaven is a real place.  Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions.  If it were not true, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2

“….For the trumpet shall sound and the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” I Corinthians 15:52
