Crisis is the Turning Point of Life

Crisis is the Turning Point of Life

Most of us have a tendency to ignore unpleasant situations that have been either inflicted on us or voluntarily brought on by our own actions. Unfortunately, avoiding issues doesn’t make pain or problems go away. Unresolved conflict continues to erode the very core of our foundation with anger, unforgiveness, self-pity, bitterness…and the list goes on.

Crisis forces confrontation.  Suddenly, our world comes crashing in on us.  In the midst of the questions, comes the search for answers that can finally bring resolution.  Although it is painful, a crisis experience can become the turning point that produces our greatest growth and maturity.  Those who refuse to deal with it keep going in circles.  Those who confront their issues allow God to use the experience to propel them into their purpose and destiny.

Psalm 139:23

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Traumatic events can retard emotional growth resulting in immature behavior.  Arrested development that is not dealt with, whether it is in childhood, adolescence, or mid-life will continue to re-surface until it is confronted and positive change occurs.

  • When you find yourself reacting to a crisis situation with immature conduct, determine the numerical age level you are imitating. Remember the incidents that took place in your life at that time and you will possibly discover the root cause for the behavior.
  • Confront the behavior by settling your issues. As you forgive the offenses, the anger, bitterness, and painful memories will begin to heal and release you to turn the corner and move on to maturity.
  • Face reality. You get to choose. You can remain a prisoner of damaged emotions, or get out of “dysfunction junction” through the process of inner healing.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man I put away childish things.”  I Corinthians 13:11
