On Tuesday morning of “9-11” I was at the U.S. Capital, praying. Todd Beamer was on a plane that had been commandeered by terrorists on a suicide mission to crash into the Capital building. When Todd yelled, “Let’s roll,” he and many others became heroes as they rushed their hijackers causing the plane to crash into a field in Pennsylvania. They possibly saved hundreds of lives, including my own.
In the Hebrew culture, the word commitment means to roll. A commitment is a decision that demands perseverance. Perseverance is a passionate patience that presses on, forges ahead, and advances beyond every obstacle. The success of any accomplishment requires dedication and commitment. Find a task, a dream, a goal, a cause worth committing to and make the decision: “Let’s roll!!!”
Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)
“Roll your works upon the Lord, (commit and trust them wholly to Him):…so shall your plans be established and succeed.”
Practical Application and Assignments:
In route to success, remember that the process is as important as your destination. Commitment is an integral part of the process. It is where the rubber hits the road.
- Make the commitment. It takes commitment to go the distance. Whether it is your marriage vows, church membership, a business deal, completing a job or your education, pursuing your dreams… you will not advance until you are committed.
- Let’s roll!! Due to the laws of physics, there is a point of no return on the run way in which an aircraft is committed to lift off. It cannot change its course of action without a catastrophe. God’s plan for your life dictates the same kind of commitment. Someone said, “If God is your co-pilot, switch seats.” Fasten your seatbelt. You’re on your way to success. Enjoy your flight.
“Commit your way to the Lord (roll and repose each care of your load on Him;) trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5 (AMP)
