Adventure is the Exhilaration of Life

Adventure is the Exhilaration of Life

Adventure is accompanied with feelings of exhilaration that gives life vigor and animation. It is what causes us to get on the “Magnum” roller coaster at the amusement park. You may not be ready to climb Mt. Everest or go skydiving, but everyone desires adventure to some degree.

Adventure needs to be balanced with caution because sometimes it involves risk.  While adventure sees all the green lights, caution steps in with the yellow light to keep the risk level at a minimum.  Adventure is that little “insertion” in life that gives us momentum.  Are the weights of life slowing you down?  Whether it is rising in a hot air balloon or picking up an artist’s brush…be adventurous.  Try something new today.

Psalm 20:4

“May He grant you according to your hearts desire…”

Practical Application and Assignments:

An adventure takes the element of surprise and creates an exciting experience.

  • Set out on an adventure… One boring summer afternoon, I said to my children, “Grab your tennis shoes and jump in the car, we’re going on an adventure!” After three cartwheels, a boat ride and a game of “P.I.G.” on the basketball court, our next mystery stop was the County Fair. Dinner included award winning ribs, roasted corn and cotton candy, followed by a ride on the Ferris wheel.  From there we arrived at the bowling alley, where my ten year old got five straight strikes.  In route home we played one game of miniature golf.  The last stop was the video store.  It felt like a mini vacation.
  • Plan family vacations to places you have never been. If it isn’t affordable to go away, camp out in your own back yard. Bring Hawaii to your house.  Make your own grass skirts.  Have a hula contest… A quest for adventure will inspire your creativity.
  • Take a tour of the “Hall of Faith” located in Hebrews, chapter 11. God’s heroes of faith are sent on unbelievable adventures.

“By faith, Abraham went out, not knowing where he was going.”  Hebrews 11:8
