Champions are the Overcomers of Life

Champions are the Overcomers of Life

Champions are not born champions.  They become champions through laborious dedication and determination.  Only ignorance and mediocrity would attempt to become a champion without paying the price for success.  Progress is the result of intentional decisions, habits, and hard work.  What you refuse to change about today, you are not permitted to complain about tomorrow.  You cannot duplicate another’s success until you duplicate another’s knowledge.

Every day you have the opportunity to be an overcomer, whether it comes in the form of an abusive remark, a financial reversal, a severe illness, a disappointment, or a failure.  When God is your strength you can overcome any challenge.  Walt Emerson said, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

I John 4:4

“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Practical Application and Assignments:

Everyone wants to be a champion.  However, if you really want to be an overcomer, the bad news is that there must be something to overcome.  Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation.”  The good news is found in His next statement, “But cheer up; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

  • Accept every challenge in life as an opportunity to overcome.  Do not surrender to defeat.  Robert Schuler said, “Tough times never last, but   tough people do.”  Never dwell on the problem.  Dwell on the solution.
  • Make this confession: I am a champion.  I am linked up with a winner.  I have the life of God in me.  I have the nature of God in me. I have the ability of God in me.  I can overcome defeat.  I can overcome temptation.  I can overcome failure.  I can overcome stress.  I can overcome depression.  I can overcome rejection.  I can overcome fear.  I can overcome death… I am an overcomer!!!

“He that overcomes shall inherit all things.  I will be his God, he shall   be My son.” Revelation 21:7

  1. Hey pastor, thank you for this word. I definitely needed it. See I’m blessed to be in the position that I’m in. I truly mean that. I am now the Lead Petty Officer for the Chaplain’s Office on Camp Lejeune. I don’t know if that makes any sense to you, but it’s quite a burden and a honor. This is just another way to OVERCOME and to continue let the potter mold this (often) tough clay. Only to He shall receive any Glory from this guy. Keep walking down that narrow path pastor. Always praying! Is there anything we can pray about in particular? Love ya!
