REALLIFE STUDY GROUP

"Got Rage!"

ICEBREAKER:  Describe one thing that really makes you mad.

INTRODUCTION: This week’s lesson addresses the increased levels of anger and rage in our society. The Bible says be angry and sin not. That is a very difficult thing to process sometimes. Moses was the meekest most teachable man that ever lived but he kept having to deal with out of control anger in His life. The entire book of Jude addresses the subject as an underlying theme. We will remind ourselves of some of the reasons we even get angry. Then we will look at some principles for dealing with volatile raging people.

CONFESSION:

·        I choose to trust God with my anger!

·        I choose to confront in love and let God make things right.

·        I choose to release the ugly grip of rage into the mighty hands of God.

·        I choose to ask God to extinguish the volcanic eruptions of volatility from my heart.

·        I choose to pour out all clamor and malice at the foot of the cross.

HOW TO DEAL WITH OUTRAGEOUSLY OUT OF CONTROL PEOPLE

1.   Use your inside voice.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. (Proverbs 15:2 KJV)

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. (Proverbs 12:18 KJV)

3.   Speak from pure motives.

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. (Proverbs 15:4 KJV)

4.   Know who you can instruct and who you cannot instruct.

A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. (Proverbs 15:5 KJV)

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. (Proverbs 12:1 KJV)

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. (Proverbs 13:18 KJV)

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6 KJV)

The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. (Proverbs 15:31, 32 KJV)

5.   Beware of a strife sower.

A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. (Proverbs 15:18 KJV)

6.   You cant help lazy! Laziness is pathway to major frustration.

The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain. (Proverbs 15:19 KJV)

7.   Speak prophetically to their purpose.

Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. (Proverbs 15:22 KJV)

8.   Timing is everything. Dont try to correct a rager in the middle of the rage.

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! (Proverbs 15:23 KJV)

9.   It's okay to be angry just don't sin and stay mad over night!

BE ANGRY and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither GIVE PLACE to the devil. (Ephesians 4:26,27)

10. With some people you can talk until you are blue in the face & they will not hear you.

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. (Proverbs 29:9 KJV)
