“Salt Shakers”

 

ICEBREAKER:  What kind of salt shakers do you use at your house?

 

OUTLINE:  Properties of Salt:  According to chemistry, the term “salt” is used for ionic compounds that is composed of positively charged cations and the negatively charged anions, so that the product remains neutral and without a net charge.

 

*Salt’s solution in water is called electrolytes.

 

*Both the electrolytes and molten salts conduct electricity.

* The salt that has lost its saltiness is known as impure salt.

 

*Usually salts are solid crystals having high melting point.

 

*Salt can elicit all the five basic tastes: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and savory.

 

*Salts in its pure form is odorless.

 

         The Spiritual Characteristics of Salt

1.    Salt makes you thirsty.

2.    Salt seasons bland food.

3.    Salt was used to flavor the offerings & sacrifices in the Bible.

4.    Salt is a preservative to delay the decay.

5.    Salt was given as a gift when initiating covenant relationships.

6.    Salt acts as a healing agent.

7.    Salt was poured all over a city after it had been conquered as a symbol of the end of the past and the beginning of a new era.

1.    Name something or someone that makes you thirsty for God.

2.    What food tastes the worst without food?

3.    Salt that has lost its saltiness is called impure salt. What are some things that defile or cause Christians to become impure?

4.    Why do you think God wanted there to be salt in the sacrifice?

5.    Often in the book of Judges when the deliverers or the great spiritual men would die, the next generation would forget God. It seems these men were the preservatives and without them people lost their way. Name someone famous or close to you that was a godly influence on your life.

6.    How have we forgotten God in this generation in America?

7.    Name some ways the church in America could make a stronger stand for God and how about you?
