ICEBREAKER:  What is the furthest place you have traveled?

 

Definitions: Trust: Batach (Hebrew) Confidence, Bold, Secure, Feel safe, Careless, Sure, Hope, To confide in one

 

·        Trust fills in the blanks until the blanks can be filled in

·        Trust doesn’t always remove all the doubts it just silences them.

·        Trust trusts the Trustworthy One (Jesus)

·        Trust is the adhesive that holds us together when life doesn’t make sense.

·        Trust is where we deposit our most valued beliefs

 

OUTLINE:  Wrong Perceptions

1.    They thought Jesus came to lay down the law but He came to lay down His life and fulfill the law

2.    They thought He came to overthrow an empire but He came to overflow a Kingdom

3.    They thought He came to just point out the problem but He came to present the answer

4.    They thought He came to condemn the world but He came to convict the world

5.    They thought He came to remove authority but He came to release authority

6.    They thought He came to deal with the externals but He came to deal with the internals so we could enter the eternal

7.    They thought He came to just change their condition but He came to change their position

8.    They thought He came to show off His power but He came to strip off His power

9.    They thought He came lead a revolution but He came to bleed a revolution

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.    Tells us one of your greatest disappointments in life and what it feels like to be disappointed.

2.    When Jesus came riding into Jerusalem, name one thing that the disciples may have thought Jesus was going to change or do.

3.    When Jesus rode into town the people threw down their clothes and palm branches for him to ride over. Clothes represent our identity or what we do. Besides your name how would you identify yourself? (Give a couple adjectives that describe you)

4.    What has been God’s plan for your life? What else would you like to accomplish before this life is over?

5.    Why is it so hard to trust God’s timing?

6.    Describe a time when you wanted an answer from God and it seemed like He was silent.

7.    The song says “life is worth the living just because He lives.”  What will it take for us to realize this truth?
