ICEBREAKER:  At what time of the day do you feel most alive and energetic?

 

DEFINITIONS:  Apathy: To be indifferent, without emotion or concern, spiritless. Complacency: To be satisfied without knowing there is eminent danger all around. Lethargy: to be lazy with an abnormal drowsiness.

 

OUTLINE:  5 Spiritual Vital Signs

1.    Your Spiritual Temperature: Revelation 3:16, So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

Are you spiritually red hot for the things of God?

2.    Your Spiritual Blood Pressure: Ephesians 1:7, In whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Have your sins been covered by the blood of Jesus?

3.    Your Spiritual Respiratory Rate: Job 33:4, The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Psalm 150:6, Let everything that hath breath praise ye the Lord…

John 20:22, And when he had said this, he breathed on (them), and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

How many times a day do you breath out a word of praise to God?

4.    Your Spiritual Heart Rate (Pulse):  Acts 13:20-22 (The Message),

After Saul had ruled forty years, God removed him from office and put King David in his place, with this commendation: 'I've searched the land and found this David, son of Jesse. He's a man whose heart beats to my heart, a man who will do what I tell him.'

How frequently do you immediately without hesitation or without question obey the voice of the Lord?

5.    Your Spiritual Pain Scale:  Psalm 25:18, Look upon my affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

How painful on a scale of 1-10 is the thought of your sin?

They are Dreamers, Redeemers, Reconcilers, Restorers, Repenters, Builders, Encouragers

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.    Why do you think the Apostle Paul had to write the words of first Corinthians 15 to the church at Corinth?

2.    Why do you think that he said that the resurrection was of first importance?

3.    In what area of your life would you say you are most lethargic and need a wake-up call?

4.    To be complacent means to be satisfied but not aware of the dangers around you.  What are some of the dangers that we are facing in the United States that we were not facing 50 years ago?

5.    To be apathetic means to be without feeling or concern. Name some things we as Americans just do not care about anymore?
