ICEBREAKER:  What is the best or worst advise your dad, mom, teacher, coach or guardian ever gave you?

 

OUTLINE: 17 Characteristics of This Age

1.          People will be lovers of self; Selfish; Self-focused

2.          People will be covetous; Lovers of money & possessions

3.          People will be boasters; Deceivers, Braggarts, Pretenders

4.          People will be proud; Self-exalters, conceited, arrogant

5.          People will be blasphemers; Slanderers, Insulting, Revilers

6.          People will be disobedient to parents; Refuse instruction

7.          People will be unthankful; Ungrateful, Unappreciative

8.          People will be unholy; profane, indecent, shameless, immodest

9.          People will be without natural affection; heartless, thrill-seekers

10.     People will be trucebreakers; treacherous, untrustworthy                                            

11.     People will be incontinent; undisciplined, uncontrolled

12.     People will be fierce; savage, untamed, wild, unrestrained

13.     People will be despisers those who are good; Embarrassed to speak up for what it is right; An enemy to the good

14.     People will want to fulfill their desires and to satisfy their flesh

15.     People will be traitors; Betrayers

16.     People will be heady; Headstrong, Reckless, Rash, Hasty

17.     People will be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.    What emotions do you associate with father’s day? Explain.

2.    The list above reflects the attitudes and lifestyles of the spirit of the age that we live in.  Give one practical example from the world we live in. (Lovers of Money: Putting working and making money ahead of spending time with God)

3.    In order to raise our children with of the values of the Kingdom of God identify the values that would be the opposite of those listed above.

4.    How did your parents react to the first romantic interest, or any of your dating choices for that matter, in your life?

5.    How do you think parenting or growing up today is different from the previous generations? Give examples.

6.    What are some specific ways that Christians can reach people that are not believers without offending them even more or is it possible not to offend them?

7.    Can you identify one item from the above list that you personally have had to allow God to chisel from your life?
