ICEBREAKER:  What is your favorite type of music and your favorite artist and why?

 

TEXT:  Psalm 137:1-6, Psalm 150, 1 Samuel 16:16,23

 

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.   Israel was taken captive by the Babylonian Empire. What a tragic event! What has been the most traumatic, disorienting, life-changing and/or debilitating event in your lifetime so far?

2.   Why do you think that the Hebrew people hung up their harps?

3.   If God considers us His spiritual harp to play for His glory and to bring wellness to his people, how many strings are missing in your life and symbolically what are they?

4.   God wants us to sing before the battle or the victory.  Name one thing that you are singing and praising God to fix, bless, or improve.

5.   Isaiah 54 instructs the barren or fruitless one to sing.  How does it feel to be dry and barren in an area of your life?

6.   I Samuel 16:16, 23 explains that David could play before the King and an evil spirit would flee.  When you worship before God, name one thing in your life that has to flee?
