You might be a controller if…

1.    You feel the only way you can be important or accepted is to be the one giving orders or commands.

2.    You feel possessive about a person or persons.

3.    You are jealous of others.

4.    You feel threatened over new relationships that develop with people that you are close to.

5.    You feel determined to protect the people in your life from every possibility of any negative experience. In other words you are overprotective.

6.    You feel the need to belittle others or constantly question their judgment, because they don’t know anything or at least they don’t know what they are talking about.

7.    You make plans for the person or persons that you control without his or her permission.

8.    You criticize every move and every statement the other person makes.

9.    You think the person you control owes something.

   10. You control people with flattery.

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.    In your home growing up, which of the above symptoms did you see modeled before you, if any?

2.    In the Old Testament kings and priests were not to crossover and do each others job.  What was so wrong with what Saul did?

3.    When God gives us a role or position, He always gives us a job description and the grace to trust Him until He is finished or our assignment is complete.  Who in your life do feel the greatest need to help in a way that, that person might consider as control?

4.    When was the last time that a decision was made for you without your permission or you made for someone else without their permission?

5.    How do you deal with criticism from people in your life?

a.    Receive it with joy

b.   Call somebody else and pass on the offence

c.    Just stare the other person down

d.   Cry like a baby

e.    Explain that the criticizer has got you confused with someone else
