“It’s An Attack!”

ICEBREAKER:  If God were to grant you one wish what would it be?  (Try not to be super spiritual.  What was the first thing that came to mind?)

TEXT:  2 Kings 4:1-38

STUDY GROUP QUESTIONS:

1.    2 Kings 4 tells a story of a woman that God granted her desire and gave her a child and then suddenly the child died.  In other words her miracle turned into a mirage.  Have you ever had a dream that seemed like it finally came to pass and then it passed away?  Explain.

2.    When something painful happens how do you usually react?

a.    Spill It (Cry)

b.   Stomp It (Rage)

c.    Stuff It (Withdraw)

d.   Share It (Talk about it)

e.    _______________________________________________

3.    When the woman was asked if everything and everyone in her life was okay she answered, “It is well.”  Behind her smile and her answer, she was really saying, “I don’t want to talk about it.”  Who do you talk to when you cannot talk to just anyone?

a.    Your Nosey Neighbor

b.   Your Sorrowful Spouse

c.    Your Distant Donkey Driver (Hairdresser, Taxi Driver, Gas Station Attendant, etc…)

d.   ________________________________________________

4.    The woman’s husband may have wanted to bury the boy and just move on.  How do you recognize when its time to move on or keep standing in faith in some area of your life?

5.    The little boy died of a headache within a few short hours.  It doesn’t say that it was cancer, a stroke, or an aneurism.  This was an attack of the enemy to steal this woman’s gift from God.  Can you think of a time when the enemy tried to steal something from you that God gave you or brought into your life?  Explain (A job, an opportunity, a relationship, health,)

6.    The prophet laid on the dead child face to face, eye to eye, mouth to mouth, hand to hand and heart to heart.

·         Face to Face means you must face off with the reality

·         Eye to Eye means you must see what God sees

·         Mouth to Mouth means you must say what God says

·         Hand to Hand means you must bless what has been cursed. The blessing is in your hands

·         Heart to Heart means you must feel how God feels about your situation

Identify an area of your life that seems dead and apply the principles listed above to it and tells us what you believe God would do with your situation?
