ICEBREAKER: If God were to send you to go and pray for a country or people group, where in the world do you think He would send you?

 

DEFINITION: Welfare [Shalom]: Peace; full realm of blessing and prosperity for all aspects of society

 

OUTLINE: Who Ought To Pray

1.    People in trouble ought to pray

Psalm 34:6

2.    People who need wisdom ought to pray

James 5:1

3.    People who need power ought to pray

Luke 11:11-13

4.    People who want revival ought to pray

2 Chronicles 7:14

    5. People who want cleansing ought to pray

        Psalm 139:23, 24

6.    People who want to know God’s ways ought to pray

Exodus 33:13

7.    People who want to be saved ought to pray

Matthew 14:30, Luke 18:1

 

             Jeremiah 29:11

1.    God commands His people to pray for their city

2.    God counsels His people in how to pray: seek the welfare of their city

3.    God reveals the consequences of such praying

        Two results of this approach

1.    The renown of God increasingly spread

2.    The return and restoration of Israel was advanced

1.    Identify one Bible verse that deals in some way with the topic of prayer.

2.    Tell us one time in your life when you felt compelled to pray.

3.    How often do you pray for your city or neighborhood and what would you most like to see changed in your community?

4.    Why do you think in some situations it seems that God has limited himself from acting or moving until His people pray?

9.    When you pray how much time do you think most people give God to speak to them after they have finished talking?
