RealLife Study Group Outline

“The Strategic Attacks of the Enemy Uncovered”

Week of Tuesday, Mar. 6th thru Monday, Mar. 12th, 2007*

*All RealLife groups meeting on Monday, March 5, 2007 are to use the outline from last week “A Godly Servant”.

Background Information:  Sun. March 5, 2007 Pastor and Nan taught on Spiritual Warfare.  A very brief summary follows.  Although this week’s outline will primarily focus on only the “Division”  aspect of their teaching; for those that were present, let this information serve as a reminder and a reference if you feel led to share the information with your RealLife Home Group. Some of this information was gleaned from Rebecca Greenwood’s Authority to Tread: An Intercessor’s Guide to Strategic-Level Spiritual Warfare:

1.      How does satan take what is not his?

a.       Deception (2 Corinthians 4:4, 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12)

b.      Divisions (John 10:10)

                                                                          i.      Pride (Antidote:  Rom 12:3-21)

ii.      Pride not affirmed leads to Murmuring  (Antidote:  James 4:11-12)

iii.      Murmuring incites Rebellion (Antidote:  1 Sam 15:23)

iv.      Rebellion in its worst state makes one prey to False Revelation (Antidote:

  1 Tim 4:1-5)

c.       Discouragement--If the enemy can’t get you with pride, he’ll use Discouragement  (Antidote:  Deut. 20:3-4)

d.      Negligence--When discouragement fails, success usually results; then, the enemy comes with Negligence  (Antidote:  Prov 10:4-5)

Ice Breaker:  Tell of a time when you sensed the Holy Spirit leading you to pray, be sure to include answers to the following questions as you share:

1.      About what or for whom (if it is not confidential or inappropriate to share in a group), did the Lord, by the Holy Spirit lead you to pray?

2.      What convinced you that it was the inclination of the Holy Spirit telling you to pray?

3.      Did you ever learn of the results of your intercession?  If so, tell it, if it’s appropriate to do so.

To conclude, state that one of our greatest weapon in spiritual warfare is prayer.

Background Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2:10-11; Colossians 3:11-24; Ephesians 4:3-6, & 6:10-19 (Read the attached copy from the Amplified Bible to your groups.)  Also, refer to the scriptures references under Background Information.

Discussion Questions?

1.  The enemy has three objectives.  What are they according to John 10:10?

2.  The most common attack the enemy wages against the Body of Christ is “division”.   Why does he fight against “unity” so fiercely?  (See Psalm 133:1-3, 2 Chronicles 30:12, John 17:23 and Rom 15:5 for the answer.)

3.  According to 2 Cor 2:10-11, how does the enemy gain an advantage over us?(Unforgiveness)

4.  Pride leads to murmuring, murmuring leads to rebellion, and in its worst form, rebellion opens the door for false revelation.  Explain this process to your group.  Then, have them look up the Biblical “antidotes” for each ungodly strategy. Read the “antidote” scriptures aloud and discuss.

5.  Read Eph 4:3, Colossians 3:11-24 & Ephesians 6:10-19.  According to these scriptures, what must our offensive be to ward off the enemy’s strategy for division?

6.  Pray for the unity of your group.  Repent and ask forgiveness where necessary.

Scripture References from The Amplified Bible

2 Cor 2:10-11

10 If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive that one; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sakes in the presence [and with the approval] of Christ (the Messiah), 11 To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.

Eph 4:3-6

3 Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace.

4[There is] one body and one Spirit — just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received —

5[There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of [us] all, Who is above all [Sovereign over all], pervading all and [living] in [us] all.  AMP

Col 3:11-24

11[In this new creation all distinctions vanish.] There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, [nor difference between nations whether alien] barbarians or Scythians [who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all [everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person]. 12 Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. 13 Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. 14 And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].

15 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. 16 Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands [subordinate and adapt yourselves to them], as is right and fitting and your proper duty in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives [be affectionate and sympathetic with them] and do not be harsh or bitter or resentful toward them. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children [do not be hard on them or harass them], lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated. [Do not break their spirit.]  22 Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heart] because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him. 23 Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, 24 Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).  AMP

Eph 6:10-19

10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

11 Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

13 Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. [Isa 52:7.]

16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].

17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

19 And [pray] also for me, that [freedom of] utterance may be given me, that I may open my mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news (the Gospel),
