Rom 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long;

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 5:1-5

5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

NIV

Discussion Questions:

  1. Unfortunately, some of us were not brought up with constant encouragement.  In fact, some may have been constantly told by parents, siblings or peers, “you can’t do anything right”, “your dreams are outlandish”, “you could never become that,” or worse yet, “you’ll  never amount to anything”.  But, just imagine if, instead, you would have had someone telling you all your life: “there are no limits to what you can do”, “you can do anything”, “whatever you set your mind to, you’ll accomplish”. How would that have changed your life?

  1. The US Constitution restricts the state from interfering in the affairs of the church; but, it was not intended by the framers of our constitution to be the other way around.  The “separation of church and state” phrase was penned by Thomas Jefferson in a personal letter to a colleague, but never drafted for the Constitution. Unfortunately, it is a lie that the enemy has used to keep Christians from boldly influencing society.  What areas of our society need overcome by the influence of Christ?

What can you do to begin “chipping” away at these obstacles in our society?

  1. To “occupy until He comes” is to overcome obstacles today.  Read Romans 8:35-39, what obstacles did Paul say we can overcome?

  1. What is the most pressing obstacle you need to overcome?

  1. Read revelations:  2:7, 11, 17, 26-28; 3:5, 12, 21; and 21:6-7.  What does God promise to those who overcome?

  1. Read 1 John 5:1-5.  How do we overcome?  ( See Numbers 13: 1-33; Numbers 14;1-10; Numbers 22, 24,31; Joshua 14:6-15; Mark 11:22-24; Matthew 17:20; Matthew 21:21-22  for Biblical reference.)

  1. We have the DNA of an OVERCOMER!!!!  Tell everyone in the room, “You are an Overcomer!”

  1. Play the 2007 Prophecy for Cathedral of Life using the Sunday, February 11, 2007, 11AM CD.
